The city is conveniently reached by any of four freeways: Interstate 105, Interstate 5, Interstate 605, and Interstate 710. With a population of 110,000 in an area of 12.5 square miles, Downey offers a wide range of housing opportunities.

The City of Downey’s public transit system, Downey LINK, operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm with four circulating routes at a very reasonable fare of 0.50 cents, and the city shows its care for disabled riders allowing them to ride for free with a valid ACCESS Services identification card.
